ALL ABOUT SPORTS BETTING

Is sports betting a scam?

Sports betting is a type of gambling entertainment in which a player makes a bet with a bookmaker on a certain outcome of an event, match, and even its segment.

Betting on sports appeared along with the competitions themselves.

It is generally accepted that the first sport on which bets were accepted was chariot racing. In ancient Rome, gladiators were put on fights.

In modern times, it was impossible to imagine horse racing without bets. Hippodromes and today remain a place where a lot of money is won and lost. The same goes for boxing matches.

Over time, betting began on all sports, and the industry has grown and truly captured the world with unique opportunities to earn money.

If earlier, in order to place a bet, you had to make a phone call or visit special reception points, but today it is enough to have a computer or phone with Internet access.

Bets are accepted not only on super-popular football, hockey, basketball, baseball, American football, tennis, but also on such exotic things in terms of betting as darts, chess, e-sports.

Modern technologies with the help of a simple smartphone allow you to follow the competition, see the statistics and place a bet almost in a matter of seconds.

Divorce at bets in bookmakers

Today, huge money is involved in the sports industry, world stars earn fabulous sums. There is also a huge betting business here: it is not possible to count all the more or less large bookmakers on the planet. Of course, where there is big money, there will always be scammers.

Sports betting, according to the reviews of many players who do not understand the algorithms of this industry, is called a scam or, at best, a lottery. No.

Betting is not a lottery. Rather, it is a game based on statistics, own analysis, emotions and intuition. Today, it is practically impossible to find a platform that would exist physically, but would not have its own website on the Internet.

Every self-respecting bookmaker has an online resource with a list of events (line), odds, eye-catching bonuses and unique services.

But the problem is that, along with large and small bookmakers that have received a license from one state or another, there may be fraudulent sites.

They do not live long, because the bad fame about them spreads quickly, but they manage to deceive many ignorant players.

Since this is hard to trace, some countries even ban online bookmakers. A striking example is the United States, where online gambling is prohibited. In other countries, special organizations and departments are created to regulate the work of bookmakers.

The bookmaker is always right

The betting market is regulated by various domestic and international organizations. Bookmakers take just two small actions that guarantee them a profit “no matter what”.

The first is that they offer odds with a certain margin, which always gives a profit. The margin is included in the odds, so the project wins even with positive rates.

Secondly, the rules prescribe clauses that state that the bookmaker has the right to cancel bets, block accounts, refuse bonuses, winnings, etc. without giving reasons.

This is motivated by the suspicion of a dishonest game, but since all this is subjective, it is not possible to prove the opposite, even if you play honestly.

In addition, most “amateur” projects suffer from the fact that they reduce the maximums of successful players. The network is full of complaints that it is worth winning and withdrawing a certain amount (often even a small amount), as the bookmaker sets limits.

Despite the mandatory legalization of online betting, in some cases the problems remain the same as they were before, when no one, in fact, controlled the bookmakers. The same problems with cutting limits, the same delays in payments and the most complicated identification procedures.

In fact, the betting market is regulated by bookmakers, and does not exist on an equal footing with the players. Any player can “fall under suspicion”. Only the bookmaker decides whether to pay the client the winnings or find a way to refuse it.

In this case, the player has to follow all the rules, play not just honestly, but crystal-clearly and rely on luck and loyalty of the platform.

Experienced players often recommend that beginners deliberately lose individual bets so as not to fall under suspicion or under the limit. Any successful bettor who wins bet after bet is considered potentially dangerous for the betting operator.

In other words, the betting business cannot be called a scam. This is a market where there are no absolute guarantees, where the game is played according to the rules of the bookmaker.
