Master of sports in taekwondo: “Every time I look at adaptive athletes, I set as an example their aspiration, their perseverance”

For children with special needs in the Vladimir region, there are more and more opportunities to learn something new. For example, martial arts have recently begun to be taught in Vladimir.

On February 26, GTF adaptive taekwondo competitions were held as part of the Regional Championship. There are already several tournaments behind the participants, although they only started playing this sport in September 2021. And there are already successes! Young athletes showed what they learned. Regional competitions were held in two disciplines.

“Imitation technology. This is when an athlete comes out and shows what he has learned. The participant of the competition strikes at various targets: rackets, paws, and so on. The hyung program is a formal complex, a set of movements in a strict sequence in which the child must show and receive points, ” said adaptive taekwondo coach Kristina Vyaznikova.

The competition was attended by 20 athletes from different regions of the region. Age of participants is from 6 to 19 years. All children have their own characteristics, so a special approach is needed to them. After all, it is already very difficult for them to remember some actions in a strict sequence, says coach Kristina Vyaznikova. But the benefits of hard work are palpable.

“The advantages can be listed for a long time: the development of fine motor skills, coordination, the development of memory, the social development of children, because they do not work individually, they work in a group, they contact. These are guys of different ages, with different interests, different views on life, but they learn to interact, learn to look for common ground so that there are no conflicts. Every time I look at adaptive athletes, I set as an example their desire, their perseverance, ” shared Christina Vyaznikova.

And most importantly, parents of children with special needs also notice improvements. One of the mothers, for example, noted that her daughter's coordination improved.

Here we have improved coordination. Alena learned to jump rope. So the improvements are noticeable, and the children are already communicating well, already as a team, ” noted the mother of a child with special needs Natalia Baboshina.

Children under the care of two non-profit organizations took part in the regional competitions: VRPO Tell and VRPO Shortening the Distance.

Both do everything possible so that the guys develop and socialize. The Vladimir Regional Public Organization “reducing distance” creates sites in which special children could interact with each other: to be friends, communicate, share their emotions and impressions. For this, for example, a theater studio was opened. In addition, the organization helps parents find special sports sections for their children, such as the adaptive Taekwondo school. Well, the main task is to really reduce the distance between society and children with various deviations.

“Often, society distances from people with Down syndrome, they think that these are deeply backward people. But this is far from the case. Therefore, with the help of all kinds of exhibitions, conferences, we tell how to interact with such people. We talk about the fact that these are the same people, the same children. The most important thing is that no one is safe from the appearance of such children, ” – told the chairman of the Social Distance VROOO Anastasia Bocharova.

Already at the end of March, the pupils of the school of adaptive Taekwondo will go to Tula for competitions of the Central Federal District. And in April they will find a tournament of an all -Russian scale.
